FAQs
How do I know when it’s time for roof replacement or repair?
Obviously, if you have a leaking roof or a storm-damaged roof, you will want an assessment of the damage as quickly as possible. 4U Roofing will provide you with a free inspection and give you options for a total roof replacement or a roof repair. Early intervention can mean the difference between a small repair job and a full-on roof replacement, later on, so don’t consider a small leak a small problem.

Most homeowners will say: “My roof doesn’t leak” Truth is 90% of roofs leak.
We’ve found 100% of the roofs that we’ve ever replaced leaked somewhere. No, not to the extent that ceilings were stained or falling in, but the roofing decks are water stained and/or rotten in at least one place. Yes, your roof is probably leaking. You just don’t know it because the ceilings aren’t stained, yet.
How do I know if I may have a leaky roof soon?
If any of your shingles are missing, torn, curled, split or otherwise worn down (you may find asphalt granules in gutters or even your landscaping), these issues expose the roof to water damage and rot. Damaged shingles can also make nearby shingles more vulnerable to the elements, losing their waterproofing effectiveness.
Also up there, you may notice problems with your flashing, the metal that is laid where the roofing sections meet, including around chimneys, skylights and vent pipes. Take note that flat roofs are especially vulnerable in the Greater Mobile area’s wet climate. Standing water on the roof may create a leaking or rotting roof, especially at the corners and seams. Sealants can wear over time and need to be resealed.
What is the biggest cause for roof deterioration in the Southeast?
Poor attic ventilation. The trapped heat in an attic accelerates the aging process of the shingles and causes the granular to fall off at a faster rate than normal. Ridge vents help keep a constant air flow out of the attic in times of heat.
